Greetings to our Ladies Auxiliary members. I hope our first snowfall of the New Year didn't cause any problems for anyone. The snow was a long time coming and I hope it goes away soon! I want to congratulate our local VOD award winner, Kiara Vance, who received a third place award at the District Banquet that was held Sunday, 1/15. We had several ladies attending from the auxiliary to cheer for our two first place winners, Kiara and Adam Kiebler. We are proud of all of the students who participated in our program this year.
On Saturday, 1/7 we sponsored a pancake breakfast at our post with proceeds going to our Military and Family Support projects. Thanks to all the ladies and also Post and Men's Auxiliary members who helped make it a success. You will want to mark your calendars for two more breakfasts that we will be having. On Saturday 2/25 we will have another pancake/sausage breakfast from 8 - 11am and on Saturday 3/31 we will have a biscuits and gravy breakfast from 8 - 11am. All proceeds will go to the Line Officers fund. We will need lots of help with the breakfasts and also want to get a big crowd there to enjoy the food. Pass the word!
On Sunday, February 19th, we will be having our annual Anniversary Dinner. It begins at 5:00 p.m. at the Post. All those who have been members for 5 years, and every 5 years after that will receive their anniversary pin and be our guest for dinner. Past Commanders and past Ladies Auxiliary Presidents will also be recognized and be our guests for dinner. Please contact Mary Sheehan at the post for more information about reservations. We will also be setting up for the event at 10 a.m., dinner is also free for anyone that comes and provides the much needed assistance for that.
A few updates from our last meeting: Evelyn Jones was elected to the position of Conductress. Evelyn, thank you for serving in this role. She will be installed in the next business meeting. I also want to remind everyone that we will be placing orders for Auxiliary polo shirts on or around 2/15. Be sure to contact me or Mary Sheehan prior to that if you would like to order a shirt. This will be the shirt we now use for our color team when we march in parades. Ordering them in February will ensure we have them for our parade in May. Membership update: We are VERY close to our 100%. We are just a few short so please be sure to continue recruiting and bring in new members to share in what we do.
Our Friday night dinner this month is on February 10th. All proceeds will go to Relay for Life. The menu is chicken and catfish. This is always a well supported event and I encourage you to come out and participate for a good cause. The cost is $6 for members and $7 for nonmembers. Our next monthly auxiliary meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 1st at 7:00 p.m. I look forward to seeing many of our members there.
